Niki Paton / Baseball Notions
SAINT PAUL, Minn.- This season Manager Greg Tagert and the Gary SouthShore RailCats have worked to become early contenders in the 2007 Northen League race to the playoffs. With just a few more weeks left for the first half and an incredible 22-8 season, the RailCats began the face off for a three game series in Fargo, North Dakota tonight against their rival RedHawks. With the first game in Fargo since the 2006 Championship game under their belts thoughts for Northern League fans wander. Could it be possible? Will we see this season end in a rubber match? The RedHawks are only a few games back with Winnipeg leading the Northern Division. The RailCats have an early Southern Division lead. The past two seasons for the RailCats provided Northern League fans a rivalry with the RedHawks like that of the Yankees and Sox in the American League. The RedHawks face off against the RailCats Wednesday night at Newman Outdoor Field in Fargo at 7pm. Thirteen of their next eighteen games are on the road before the Southern Division first half winners are decided. The next few weeks will break records for the RailCats and provide fans with an incredible ride. Tune into Sports Juice for the rest of the series in Fargo, ND Wednesday evening and Thursday afternoon.
